Multimedia photo exhibition and documentary book about the hardest winter in the history of independent Ukraine
A large-scale documentary and charitable project initiated by the DTEK Group, and organized by Port of Culture, chronicling Ukraine's wartime energy crisis and the resilience of Ukrainians during mass power outages. The exhibition brought together unique photographs by over 30 leading photographers, including Pulitzer Prize laureates Mstislav Chernov and Yevhen Maloletka, as well as Sasha Maslov, Serhiy Korovainy, and Polina Polikarpova. Port of Culture delivered the concept, exhibition organisation, publishing cycle, and international project management.
Key results:
- National tour: Exhibitions held in 3 major Ukrainian cities at leading cultural venues: National Museum of Taras Shevchenko (Kyiv), YermilovCenter (Kharkiv), and Porokhova Vezha art centre (Lviv).
- International advocacy: The project was scaled to European level — presented to international audiences in 2 cities in the Netherlands (The Hague and Zaandam).
- Documentary book and charity: A bilingual archive book was published in collaboration with IST Publishing; 100% of proceeds directed to drone procurement for the 2nd Mountain Assault Battalion of the 128th Brigade.
- Reputational and institutional impact: The campaign laid the foundation for international recognition of Ukraine's energy sector crisis communications — winning Gold at Global Good Awards 2024 and the SABRE Awards 2025 in the Energy and Natural Resources category.
